How our Competitive Team Auditions Work
Our Competitive Team Auditions are designed to feel similar to a Jazz Technique class. Dancers will be guided by our welcoming and supportive instructors through a short class that includes:
- A brief warm-up
- Across-the-floor technique exercises
- A short jazz choreography combination
This format allows our faculty to see each dancer’s technique, musicality, and performance style in a comfortable class setting. If your dancer is interested in competing in Tap or Acro, please email us at info@premieredance.ca after completing your audition registration. Once we receive your email, we will schedule a short assessment following the group audition so our instructors can review some style-specific skills with your dancer.
What Happens After the Audition
Within one week of your audition, you will receive an email with information about your dancer’s recommended placement in our 6-Week Summer Program. This may include either:
- Competitive Level Technique Classes, or
- Recreational Level Summer Classes
Why Summer Training Matters
Summer training plays an important role in placement for the 2026/27 Competitive Team and is required for all current Competitive Team dancers.
These classes give our instructors the opportunity to work closely with dancers over several weeks, allowing us to better determine the best fit for the upcoming season. Summer training also helps dancers become comfortable with the Competitive Level class structure while continuing to build their technique, confidence, and skills leading into the 2026/27 season.
Because of this, final placement on the 2026/27 Competitive Team may not be confirmed until after the Summer Program concludes in August 2026.
Our staff are happy to guide you through the audition and placement process.

Regular Season Required Classes (Sept 2026-June 2027)
Once approved for the Competitive Team (either through the group audition or a private placement audition), dancers are required to take specific classes during the regular season in order to be fully prepared for the demands of competitive dance. Part-Time competitive (B) dancers train under 6 hours of classes per week, and Full-Time competitive (A) dancers train 6+ hours per week. Level and class placement (Part-Time or Full-Time) is at the discretion of our faculty.
Our Part-Time competitive team dancers take a minimum of three required classes, and Full-Time have a minimum of four required classes. Each competitive age group/level have their own specific classes, however they all consist of a weekly Ballet Technique Class, a Stretch & Conditioning Class and a Competitive Jazz Class for Part-Time (B) dancers, plus a Competitive Technique Class for Full-Time (A) dancers. Competitive dancers will then have the option to audition for several additional competitive & technique classes in various styles of dance (such as hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, acro, musical theatre, tap and more!)
